The PGA TOUR's final Signature Event of the season lands in Connecticut this week, and it brings a lot of buzz with it. Attendance at the Travelers Championship ranks second only to the Waste Management Phoenix Open each year.

LAGC members Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Tommy Fleetwood, and Sahith Theegala are no strangers to the spotlight. Read on to see what they’ll be dealing with this week.

TPC River Highlands

Exciting finishing holes, down-to-the-wire finishes, and excellent hospitality from the Travelers team. Those are the things you hear from players and fans alike when they sing praises of this tournament.

TPC River Highlands traces its roots to 1928 as Middletown Golf Club, later Edgewood Country Club, before the PGA TOUR purchased it in the early 1980s and handed it to Pete Dye for a redesign.

The course is a par-70 stretching to 6,844 yards — short by modern PGA TOUR standards, which is exactly why it’s created a stir about the advantage it gives to big hitters. Longer hitters have begun to cut off angles, going over the top of this tree-lined layout for driver-wedge birdie opportunities. At a scorable course like this, you don’t want to find yourself at or over par on any day unless you want to play from behind.

Still, the scoring records here belong not to bombers alone. Kevin Streelman closed the 2014 final round with seven consecutive birdies to win by one stroke. Jordan Spieth won the 2017 edition in a playoff by holing his bunker shot for birdie on the first extra hole. And in 2016, Jim Furyk shot a 58 in the final round — the lowest round in PGA TOUR history, though still not enough to win.

A shorter course is shorter for short-hitters too, you know.

The course's signature stretch runs through the back nine, where the reachable par-4 15th and the over-the-water 16th have produced decades of weekend drama, not to mention the natural stadium feel on 18 that will be packed on Sunday afternoon.

All LAGC players are in the field this go around.

LAGC Storylines

Tommy Fleetwood — Fleetwood comes back to Cromwell with unfinished business. A year ago, Fleetwood stood one shot back with one hole to play. He had the tournament in his grasp most of the weekend, but a surging Keegan Bradley and a difficult Sunday for Fleetwood left him just short. He returns to TPC River Highlands with redemption on his mind.

Justin Rose — Rose remains in the world top-10 and put together a strong T-11 finish at the U.S. Open. He remains a threat to win each and every week. Outside of his RBC Canadian Open missed cut, he’s finished T-10, T-12, and T-11 in his last three events (all Signature Events) — he’s right there, and looking for another win.

Collin Morikawa — Morikawa secured a top-20 U.S. Open finish, and his steady play since his injury means it could be time for Morikawa to step back into the spotlight. Early in the season Morikawa was No. 1 in the FedExCup Standings, rattling off high finishes and a win at Pebble Beach. Can he climb again this week? We think so.

Sahith Theegala — Theegala found himself hanging around the top-5 most of the weekend at Shinnecock, and finished T-11 alongside Tommy and Rose. He’s putting together his best season in years that’s only missing a TOUR victory. This weekend could be the weekend in Cromwell.

What to Watch

In the FedExCup Standings, Theegala climbed to 37, Rose to 17, Fleetwood to 11, and Morikawa to 6. With every one of them playing excellent golf, we could see any of them hoist the trophy by the end of the week.

Watch the Travelers Championship on ESPN+, Golf Channel, NBC, and Peacock throughout the weekend.
